A great bar/pub in a quite locality in Chelsea. Nice seating and décor with the option to sit in the Aviary, a conservatory style room behind the main bar area or to sit upstairs in the Blanchard which is a private area which can also be used for small parties. A lovely relaxed quirky setting in the heart of Chelsea. Good selection of food and drinks.
Found in the basement of the Sloane Square Hotel this is tequila heaven! This Mexican-themed tapas bar and club which despite the minimalistic décor hosts the wildest nights in London. Run by the exquisite Guy Pelly, whose associations with the Royals have brought him even more fame, Tonteria probably has the best selection of Tequila outside Mexico. Ranging from the mere shot to exclusive ‘Reserva Del Alma’ at a mega £5,000! A quirky feature which you must look out for is the model train ‘Tonteria Express’ which runs along the ceiling and holds the signature shot ‘Tontefizz’ for 6 – 10 peeps. This idea was taken from the real Tequila Express train found at Jalisco, Mexico’s tequila heaven. Frozen Margaritas are also speciality here with a vast selection of awesome flavours to suit any taste. If feeling peckish, there is a good selection of Mexican Tapas.
Only open 4 days a week, with a themed wrestling night on Monday - Tontemania – where professional wrestlers let their guard down for some fun action and another exclusive themed night on Thursday – DoNotDisturb (DND) a Wild night which has received worldwide media attention and favourite by celebrities.
Tonteria, which means "nonsense" in Spanish, has a no-nonsense door policy, where the clientele expect to queue in orderly fashion for up to an hour or so for entry as the tiny basement venue has limited capacity. This all adds to the hype for an exclusive, quirky night out.
