Fitzrovia Bars

Bourne & Hollingsworth

A quirky basement bar which is difficult to find. Décor is to the taste of a grandma’s living room, with floral wall paper and candles. It is pretty dark and the DJ plays some funky motown and soul music. Some drinks are served in teacups and served with cucumber sandwiches. The tiny room replicates a house party where everyone is rubbing shoulders with each other.

Purple Bar

Located in the Sanderson Hotel. As the name suggests, the bar has a combination of purple etched Venetian mirrors, lavender Queen Anne chairs, lavish violet silk curtains and a dramatic purple bar, all of which provide a lounge of decadence.

The Long Bar

Set within the Sanderson Hotel, this awesome 80-foot long onyx bar is the focal point. Open to non-residents it is a popular destination for people watching, especially if you can get a seat at the bar.

The Lucky Pig Cocktail Bar

A drinking den, for those in the know, which has old-fashioned glamorous décor. A sophisticated cocktail list includes sharing cocktails for 2-6 people. There is live music entertainment during the week and DJ sets at the weekend.

The Purl Bar

Found in the basement of a Georgian House, hidden from the hustle and bustle of Oxford street. This bar focuses on providing unusual cocktails with the help of utilising aroma, foams, fogs and liquid nitrogen. The cocktail glasses are also bespoke for this venue. Purl actually relates to a classic English drink made from gin, spices and ale. Booking is essential, as this bar has limited seating in its alcoves and no standing is allowed due to the lack of space.
